Crossing the Viraja River and Entering into the Timeless Universe

Viraja River is a spiritual concept of ancient India. Sri Amit Ray explained how one can transcended the flow of time or arrow of time and enter into the zone of timelessness. He explained it, in the light of modern spirituality and modern quantum physics and modern cosmology.

Crossing the Viraja River and Entering into the Timeless Dimensions

From my childhood, I heard many stories about the Viraja River. My mother use to say, if one’s mind is in perfect equilibrium and emerged into the deep cosmic God consciousness, one would cross the Viraja river even while living in this world. Later I realized the Viraja river can be crossed in deep samadhi especially through deep Om viraja kriya meditation.  Through special deep meditation Om Prana Kriya and Om Viraja Kriya meditation one can cross the cosmic mystical Viraja River.

Modern Physics and the Viraja River

Recently, I was reading some articles on how quantum computing can reverse the arrow of time  published in the Journal of Physical ReviewViraja River is the ancient concept of Timeless Universe. The researchers of the quantum physics said that the the arrow of time is not an absolute concept; it strongly depends on the choice of initial conditions — so it’s relative. Viraja River is the river of timelessness because time does not exist at the other bank of the cosmic river.

Modern physics suggests that we can look at the entire history of the universe as a single four-dimensional thing. If you were to stand outside the universe—outside both space and time—and look at your own life, you would see your birth, your death and every moment in between laid out as distinct points. From this angle, time does not flow, but is static and fixed.

Viraja River is the boundary between the material dimension of time and the spiritual dimension of timelessness. In deep meditation or after death the souls that exist on the material side of the Viraja are eternally conditioned, and the souls on the spiritual side are eternally liberated. Crossing Viraja river is going outside both time and space. On the other side of the Viraja river is the zone of eternal bliss and light.

To cross the Viraja River – the river of light, joy and timeless you don’t need to die. Through deep meditation you can cross the Viraja river while you are alive. — Amit Ray

Four Layers of Viraja River

Entanglement is a term used in quantum theory to describe the way that particles of energy/matter can become correlated to interact with each other in predictable ways, regardless of how far apart they are. Which means that the state and actions of one of these particles can influence the state and actions of the other through the process of interference. Through quantum entanglement a truly enlightened person has the power to raise others into his own elevated state and can help others to cross the Viraja River.  Upon the arrival of the soul on the bank of the Viraja River in the timeless zone of spiritual world he/she is immediately and automatically an eternal resident of that transcendental dimension who never really left it.

Three Bodies and the Arrow of Time

Individual soul (Jiva) has three bodies: (a) physical or gross body (Sthula Sharīr), (b) subtle body or Astral body (Linga Sharīr), and (c) causal body (Kāraṇa-Sharīr ). The Atman is entirely distinct from these three bodies. These three bodies work in the presence of the Atman. Soul does not need anything since it is not the experiencer. It is just the observer and therefore it is eternal.

Physical-Subtle-Causal-Body

Gross body or the physical body that is made up of five elements; earth, water, air, fire, space and vacuum. It is subject to a sixfold change: birth, subsistence, growth, maturity, decay, and death.  Subtle or astral body (Linga Sharira) is where lives mind and intellect.  Subtle body is like the size of a thumb with light (jyoti) without smoke.  Mental body is the body which can think and dream.

The causal body is considered as the most complex of the three bodies. The outer-layer of causal body is nothing but ignorance about the true Self and the belief in limited self.  Inside it contains the impressions of  the past experiences. The death for the causal body occurs when one gets perfect knowledge of the  true cosmic Self.

Viraja River and the Journey of the Soul

Just after death of the physical-body (sthula-sharir), the mind quickly achieves a fresh body called linga-Sharir (subtle or astral body). After leaving subtle body, soul is left with causal body which is associated with Vāsanā i.e. impressions of infatuation and intense-desires carried from many births. It is causal body which contains the other two bodies subtle-body and then gross physical body. The term which we call death is fall of gross body. The soul survives along with subtle and causal body where impressions  samskaras are stored. People take birth again and again with the help of gross body till all the past impressions are consumed.

After taking a sacred dip into Virajā river, soul without any effort crosses the divine river Virajā, keeping its Sankalpa (determination) of meeting with the cosmic Divinity of OM.  As soon as one takes bath in divine Viraja river, one is immediately freed from Sukshma and Karana-sharir both. As soon as soul crosses the Viraja on his return to the spiritual abode he is instantly transformed from an eternally conditioned soul into an eternally liberated soul.

Scientists observed that causal asymmetry is only found in classical models of physics, where modelling the time is the process that moves forward-time. But they are not found in quantum world where time can move in reverse direction. Once the soul dip into the Viraja river it drops the principles of causal asymmetry

Crossing the Viraja River through Deep Meditation

Through Om Viraja Kriya meditation a deep Om meditation, one can gradually experience the subtle-body as well as the causal-body as different layers of their soul. By rubbing one fire-stick i.e. the name “Om-Mantra” against another fire-stick i.e. heart, and in the end realization of soul and the super-soul happens, as like fire appears from rubbing the two fire-sticks against each other as said in Upanishads.

Svetasvatara Upanishad describes that Om is like the fire which though potentially present in firewood is not seen until two sticks are rubbed against each other. The self is like that fire; it is realized by constant awareness of the sacred syllable Om. Let the body be the stick that is rubbed and Om be the stick that is rubbed against. Then the real nature is realized which is hidden within, just as fire in a sense hidden in the wood.  To accelerate the experience, one can harmonize “Om Mantra” in breathe. Rubbing on heart means chanting with great faith and love.

In material world we are totally conditioned to always think in terms of time and space. After taking the dip in the Viraja River  – the river of bliss, light and timeless we awake up form the dream of life into the eternal wakeful condition in wondrous spiritual limitless sky of infinity.

Conclusion:

Viraja River is a mystical ancient symbolic river. It is the river of bliss, light and timeless. In one side of this river is  the material world (moola prakruti), which obeys the rules of classical physics and causal asymmetry. On the other side is the timeless zone of bliss and light. It has no contamination of the (prakruti) When atman raises from Viraja river after a bath, all contamination are removed and merged with the unchanging, un-decaying absolute cosmic consciousness. Om Viraja Kriya meditation is a special meditation technique to cross the river and enter into the kingdom of light and bliss.
